AUGUST

Saturday 4th August
Risley Moss – for butterflies and dragonflies

Risley Moss is an important nature reserve as it is one of the few peat bogs left in the area. The site attracts a good number of butterfly and up to 19 dragonfly species. Meet 10.30pm at reserve car park, Ordnance Avenue, Birchwood (SJ664921)

Sunday 12th August 10.00 am
Heathland & Woodland Walk, jointly with the Ranger Service. This will be a stroll suitable for all the family, starting at Cleaver Heath car park in Oldfield Road, Heswall (SJ 258826), and visiting a section of the Wirral Way. Strong footwear advisable - as is a packed lunch. Sorry, no dogs. The walk is expected to end around 3 p.m

SEPTEMBER

Saturday 8th September
Afternoon visit to Keith Siddorn’s farm, Meadow Bank Farm at Broxton, South Cheshire. The Farm has won the Cheshire Farms Society competition in the wildlife and farming category for the last two years. Meet in Ellesmere Road, Altrincham at 1.00 pm. We expect to be back between 6.00 and 7.00 pm.

Friday 14th September 7.30pm
Sue Tatman, the Trust's Wildlife Gardening Officer, on Gardening for Wildlife. Sue has a lot of experience, and written frequently for The Grebe. Heswall Hall.

Saturday 15th September
Timperley Fair
at Larkhill. As usual plants and homemade cakes, jams, chutneys and crafts will be very welcome for our sales table. Come and enjoy the family fun; bring the children and grand children.

In Search of Puffins an illustrated talk by Roger Collier. St Mary Magdalene Church Centre, Ashton-on-Mersey, Sale.

Wednesday 3rd October, 7.30pm
Rhodes on Footpaths - Preserving our Heritage. Talk by Peter Rhodes, President of the Footpath Society. St Johns Church, Earlsway, Macclesfield SK11 8RS

Saturday 6th October 2-4pm
Apple Day at Brimstage Hall. Apple tastings, juice making and The Longest Apple Peel competition. Last year a visitor won the Under 16 category in this nationwide Common Ground event.

Sunday 7th October 2-4pm
Apple Day at Eastham Country Park. Apple tastings, juice making and The Longest Apple Peel competition. This weekend is a countryside festival with craft displays and morris dancers too.

Friday 12th October 7.30pm
Jacki Hulse, the Trust's Head of Estates and Land Management will give us an Update on the Gowy Meadows. Jacki last told us about the successes of this development three years ago, by which time the finer points of the drainage had been completed, and we now look forward to hearing more of the stock & its management. Heswall Hall.

Charlotte Harris, the Trust's BAP Co-ordinator, will tell us about the Cheshire Wildlife Trust's Participation in Biodiversity Action Plans both in Cheshire generally and here in Wirral. (This talk has been postponed from 13 th April). Heswall Hall.

International Animal Rescue, by Ian Robinson, formerly Veterinary Manager of the Norfolk Wildlife Hospital, and now based in the U.S. where he leads a team of specialists in the recovering of wildlife from disasters. Ian has experienced all kinds of climates and terrains in his concern to rescue & conserve wildlife. Heswall Hall.
