What is Gift Aid?
Quite simply, Gift Aid means that for every £1 you give us - whether in the form of membership subscriptions or donations - Herefordshire Nature Trust can claim a further 28p from the Inland Revenue.
Gift Aid helps raise much-needed funds for Herefordshire Nature Trust - and it's so simple to do!
As a registered charity, Herefordshire Nature Trust can reclaim the tax on your membership subscriptions and donations if you are a UK taxpayer. Over recent years Gift Aid has been worth more than £50,000 to us.
We can reclaim Gift Aid on your membership subscriptions and donations if:
- You pay Income or Capital Gains Tax deducted
from your wages, salary or pension, on savings or through
sale of property or shares for example. We can even reclaim
Gift Aid if you are self employed as long as you complete
a self-assessment tax form each year.
- You are a pensioner paying tax on a private
pension plan or a savings account, or pay Capital Gains
Tax if you sell a property or shares.
- You are a lower rate tax payer providing
you pay enough tax to cover the amount that will be reclaimed.
- You are a higher rate taxpayer, we can claim basic rate tax on your donations. Simply declare your donations for the year on your tax return and you will get a rebate of the difference between the basic and higher tax rates you have paid to the Inland Revenue.
