How did we do it?
Thanks to the phenomenal support of the community, Herts & Middlesex Wildlife Trust raised over £126,000 towards our £150,000 Balls Wood fundraising goal. This has now proved successful and the rest of the purchase price has been funded by Natural England through Defra's Aggregates Levy Sustainability Fund, Lafarge Aggregates through the Landfill Communities Fund administered by Groundwork Hertfordshire. Hertfordshire County Council contributed funds essential to release the money from the Landfill Communities Fund. A number of Charitable Trusts also contributed to the success of this appeal.
We have succeeded in purchasing Balls Wood however the Trust still needs to raise the additional £24,000 to realise our goal of creating a haven for people and wildlife.
