Barn owl

     The barn owl has suffered a big decline in recent years due to a change in farming practices and loss of traditional nesting sites.

 

 

 

Otter

     The European otter has successfully returned to the county's waterways following an absence of over 30 years, but they still need our help to ensure their survival.

Brown Long-Eared Bat

      Main threats to the brown long-eared bat include roost damage during building works, winter hibernation disturbance, chemical timber treatments, floodlighting and now wind turbines.

 

 

 

Great Crested Newt
The UK is one of the great crested newt's last European strongholds, but they are suffering here as well, making them an important candidate for conservation.

Brown Hare

     Brown hare populations have been significantly reduced as a result of agricultural intensification and its fortunes very much depend on agricultural policy and farming practices.

 

 

 

Water Vole

     The water vole was once in abundance amongst Nottinghamshire's water courses but now habitat loss and predation by the non-native American mink have critically diminished the population.

These species have been identified as priority in  Nottinghamshire. The money raised by your adoption will go towards the costs of carrying out conservation work on our nature reserves as well as education and advice to landowners and the public, directly contributing to the survival of these species so that populations can continue to grow.
