Capreolus capreolus - Roe Deer Southern and Northern England and throughout Scotland. |

The Roe Deer is the smallest of our native deer growing up to 75 centimetres tall, with a reddish-brown body and a white patch on its rump. They are also the commonest species in the lowland parts of the region. During the day the deer rest in shallow scrapes hidden within woodland and in the evening they move to the woodland edge to graze on grass, shrubs and arable crops. |
