Libellula quadrimaculata - Four-spotted Chaser

Found throughout Britain, particularly around bogs and marshland and often in the mountains.

A small red or yellow Dragonfly which is common over boggy pools and marshland at Knowetops. The male and female of this species are similar in appearance and take their name from the dark spots in the centre of each wing. Male Four-spotted Chasers will constantly hover and circle, often with many other males, over their small territories on the same pond.
