Sympetrum danae - Black Darter

Locally common and widely distributed largely in the West of Britain.

Black Darter

Britain's smallest dragonfly, breeding in shallow acidic water, the Black Darter is common around the bogs and marshland at Knowetops. The male has a completely black body and black legs, whereas the female, pictured above, has a yellow body.
