Enallagma cyathigerum - Common Blue Damselfly Common throughout Britain, particularly over still water. |

This Damselfly is very common over still water, preferably with plenty of floating vegetation and can be seen at Knowetops from May through to August, often in large numbers. Only the male is in fact a vivid blue in colour, the female is green and black. This poor individual chose to rest on a Round-leaved Sundew, a carnivorous plant! Fortunately, the photographer is very fond of Dragonflies and so it got a second chance after posing for the photo. |
