Garrulus glandarius - Jay

Common in woodland throughout Britain except the far North of Scotland.

Jay

A member of the Crow family, the Jay, with its pinkish-brown body, blue and black barred wings and white crown, is a much more colourful bird than its cousins. Jays are sociable birds often congregating in small noisy groups, but are very wary of people and you are more likely to hear their raucous calls, warning other woodland residents of your arrival, than see the birds themselves.
