Edited by Colette Holden Adapted for the Web by Dan Attwood
This handbook has been produced by the Sheffield Wildlife Trust as part of its Green Corridors and Biodiversity Project and its Wild Web 2000 initiative, funded by the Environmental Action Fund and the Hanson Environment Fund respectively.
It is based on text written by Derek Parker and Fiona Stewart which was first published in 1999 as the Scottish Wildlife Trust Greenspace Action Pack, and can be accessed on the internet at www.swt.org.uk/greenspace. Extensive revision and rewriting to adapt the pack for use in Sheffield has been carried out by Colette Holden, with additional material provided by Chris Milego, Nigel Doar and Laura Caillouet.
For several years, the Scottish Wildlife Trust has been at the forefront of urban nature conservation in Scotland, initiating urban wildlife projects in many of Scotland’s urban centres. These have included the Jupiter Wildlife Project in Grangemouth, the Miley railway line in Dundee and the Cumbernauld Greenspaces Project. The Greenspace Action Pack was originally conceived to assist community groups in carrying out environmental projects and to enable members of the general public to gain access to the support and advice they need to make a difference. The Sheffield Wildlife Trust is very grateful to the Scottish Trust for allowing their pack to be used as the basis for this community handbook. |
