4.0 Knowing your Green space

If you are to be successful in improving, enhancing and protecting your green space site, it is most important that a survey is carried out to assess what species and habitats it contains. This will give you a sound basis from to start practical projects on site and will enable you to begin to monitor wildlife populations. This is essential to make sure your activities are not having a detrimental effect on the wildlife of your site. Knowing what is there will also help you to make a much stronger case when objecting to any developments on your site. Surveying the human users of your site is just as important to make sure you are consulting and involving the local community at every step of your project.
